Boston cops track down suspected gunman after ShotSpotter alert rocks Roxbury

Police say suspect fled in black sedan after shots fired near homes late Monday night

BOSTON, Mass. — Boston police arrested a Roxbury man Monday night after a ShotSpotter alert led officers to shell casings and a suspect vehicle following reports of gunfire near residential streets.

Officers assigned to District B-2 responded around 9:45 p.m. to the area of 67 Batchelder Street in Roxbury after receiving a ShotSpotter activation, according to the Boston Police Department.

When officers arrived, they located a spent shell casing near the intersection of Batchelder Street and Marshfield Street.

Investigators learned that an unidentified man driving a black sedan allegedly fired the shots before fleeing up Marshfield Street toward Clifton Street.

Police later located the vehicle near 14 East Cottage Street in Dorchester.

Officers identified the driver and took him into custody without incident.

Police arrested Angel Fletcher, 33, of Roxbury.

Fletcher is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court on charges including discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling, unlawful possession of a firearm, carrying a loaded firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition.
