Baltimore man arrested in attempted murder case after man left critically wounded in shooting

Detectives tracked suspect weeks after gunfire erupted on East Hoffman Street and injured two people

BALTIMORE, Md. — Baltimore detectives have arrested a city man accused of opening fire during an Eastern District shooting that left one victim critically wounded and another injured earlier this spring.

Police said 41-year-old Derrick Davis Jr. of Baltimore was taken into custody in connection with the April 2 shooting in the 2000 block of East Hoffman Street.

The shooting happened around 8:27 p.m. after officers responded to the area following a ShotSpotter alert, according to Baltimore police.

When officers arrived, they learned two victims had already left the scene and gone to an area hospital for treatment.

Investigators later located a 29-year-old man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and a 35-year-old woman with a graze wound.

Police said the male victim remained in critical condition following the shooting.

After weeks of investigation, Warrant Apprehension detectives arrested Davis on May 12 inside a residence in the 4300 block of Roberton Avenue.
