Cumberland lottery stop turns into six figure payday

CUMBERLAND, MD — An Allegany County woman stopped at a Cumberland Sheetz for a FAST PLAY ticket and walked away with a surprise $100K lottery jackpot, according to Maryland Lottery officials.

The woman purchased the winning FAST PLAY Big Win ticket May 1 at the Sheetz located at 429 Virginia Avenue in Cumberland.

Lottery officials said the ticket claimed the fourth of 24 top prizes available in the game.

The winner later traveled to Maryland Lottery headquarters in Baltimore with her father to officially claim the prize.

“I was excited,” her father told lottery officials after learning about the win.

The Cumberland-area woman said she does not yet have immediate plans for the $100,000 windfall.

The Sheetz store that sold the winning ticket will receive a $1,000 bonus from the Maryland Lottery.
