Baltimore, MD — On June 28, U.S. District Court Judge Ellen L. Hollander sentenced Steven Umberto Angelini, a former Baltimore Police Department (BPD) officer, to two and a half years in federal prison for conspiracy to distribute cocaine and oxycodone, and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.
Angelini will also undergo drug treatment as part of his sentence.
The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Erek L. Barron, FBI Special Agent in Charge William DelBagno, HSI Baltimore Special Agent in Charge Michael McCarthy, and Baltimore County Police Chief Robert McCullough.
According to Angelini’s plea agreement, from January 2022 to May 2022, he conspired with an associate to distribute cocaine and oxycodone. Angelini also offered to access and provide sensitive law enforcement information from the BPD Homicide Unit to obtain cocaine from his associate.
Angelini’s illegal activities included offering to sell a “ghost gun” for cash and drugs, providing oxycodone pills, and purchasing ammunition in exchange for narcotics. In April 2022, he supplied 20 oxycodone pills and exchanged firearms accessories for cocaine. In May 2022, he negotiated the sale of oxycodone pills for cash and cocaine after filling a prescription.
The case was investigated by the FBI, HSI, and the Baltimore County Police Department.
