CLAIRTON, PA – A man was rushed to the hospital in critical condition Wednesday night after being shot while sitting inside his vehicle at a Clairton gas station, prompting a homicide unit investigation.

The Allegheny County Police Department said its Homicide Unit responded to assist local authorities after County 9-1-1 received a report of a shooting at 9:09 p.m. The incident occurred in the parking lot of the Speedway gas station at 222 State Street.

First responders located the victim inside a vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdominal area, police said. He was transported to an area hospital, where he remains listed in critical condition. His identity has not been released.

County police detectives are leading the investigation and working to determine what led up to the shooting. No information about a suspect or motive has been disclosed.
