Man Dead, Driver Charged After High-Impact Crash on I-95 South

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, VA — A fatal crash on I-95 South in Prince William County has resulted in reckless driving charges against a Fredericksburg man, according to Virginia State Police.

The collision occurred around 2:40 p.m. on February 4 near the 151-mile marker. A Lexus, stopped on the right shoulder of the express lanes, was struck by a Ford driven by 43-year-old Jeremy S. Kubela. The force of the impact pushed the Lexus into a guardrail before it came to rest in the travel lanes.

The driver of the Lexus, identified as 57-year-old Vernon S. Lee II of Chester, VA, was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger, 25-year-old Shannon S. Lee, suffered serious injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital. Both individuals were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
