Man Wanted for Multiple Facebook Marketplace Robberies Drags Victim in Car

HOLMDEL, N.J. — A 23-year-old Bayonne man has been arrested in connection with the theft of a MacBook from a Holmdel resident during a Facebook Marketplace transaction on Sept. 16, according to the Holmdel Township Police Department.

The suspect, Felix Marte, allegedly agreed to purchase the laptop and arranged to meet the seller at the resident’s home. During the exchange, Marte reportedly grabbed the MacBook and sped off in a red vehicle, dragging the resident for several feet before fleeing the scene.

An investigation led by Detective Corrigan and Detective Kret resulted in Marte’s arrest. Police were able to link him to similar crimes in other areas and have worked with local departments to bring additional charges against him.

In a statement, Holmdel Police urged residents to use public locations such as Town Hall or Safe Exchange Zones, which are monitored by surveillance cameras, when conducting online sales.
