Trenton, NJ – Senator Parker Space launched a blistering attack on Governor Phil Murphy Thursday, blaming his administration’s energy policies for driving up electricity prices and accusing state Democrats of deflecting responsibility for what he called a self-inflicted crisis.
Space, a Republican representing New Jersey’s 24th District, criticized Murphy’s recent appearance on News12’s Ask Governor Murphy, where the governor attributed the state’s ongoing energy issues to external factors including PJM Interconnection and former President Donald Trump. The senator dismissed those claims as “delusional and dishonest,” arguing that Democrats have controlled Trenton for the past eight years and should be held fully accountable.
Space pointed to the collapse of New Jersey’s offshore wind plans, which he says was the centerpiece of Murphy’s energy agenda. “Companies like Orsted bailed on New Jersey long before President Trump was even in office,” Space said, claiming the administration wasted billions of taxpayer dollars on initiatives that never delivered results.
The senator also referenced a September 2024 op-ed by Senate Republican Leader Anthony Bucco, warning of steep PJM capacity auction prices, which he says should have served as a wake-up call for state leadership.
Space accused the Murphy administration of ignoring those warnings and doubling down on energy strategies that have left New Jersey families footing higher bills. “There’s only one ‘F’ in failure—and Governor Murphy owns it,” he said.
