Police say a Marlton resident met the girl through a video chat app and now faces child sexual abuse material charges.
MARLTON, N.J. — A Marlton man has been charged after investigators alleged he communicated online with a 14-year-old girl from Texas and exchanged explicit material with her over a two-month period.
Shaun Hare, 28, of Marlton, was arrested Tuesday following an investigation by the Evesham Township Police Department and the Rowlett Police Department in Texas.
According to police, information developed during an unrelated investigation led detectives to believe Hare had been involved in online communications with an underage girl.
Investigators said the pair initially met through the OmeTV video chat application and remained in contact for about two months.
Authorities later identified and located the Texas girl, who was found safe, according to police.3
Hare was taken into custody on June 23 and lodged in the Burlington County Jail.
He has been charged with:
- First-degree manufacturing child sexual abuse material
- Third-degree sending obscene material to a minor
- Third-degree debauching the morals of a child
- Third-degree possession of fewer than 1,000 items of child sexual abuse material
The investigation remains active as detectives work to determine whether there may be additional victims.
