Nurse Assaulted by Resident at Utica Nursing Home

UTICA, NY—A distressing incident occurred at the Grand Nursing Home in Utica, where a nurse was assaulted by a resident on Saturday at approximately 11:45 AM. Utica Police were called to the scene following reports of the assault.

Upon their arrival, police were informed by staff members that a resident, identified as 48-year-old Demond Perry of Utica, became agitated and assaulted a nurse.

Perry reportedly grabbed the nurse’s stethoscope by both cords and yanked it, causing severe pain and injuries to the nurse.

The injured nurse was subsequently treated at Wynn Hospital for her injuries. Following the incident, Perry was taken into custody by the Utica Police Department and has been charged with assault in the second degree.
