In a recent social media update, Senator John Fetterman lambasted the premature accusations made by some members of Congress, including Rashida Tlaib, blaming Israel for a tragic hospital attack in Gaza. The accusations came before substantial evidence was provided regarding the origin of the attack.
“It’s truly disturbing that Members of Congress rushed to blame Israel for the hospital tragedy in Gaza,” he said. “Who would take the word of a group that just massacred innocent Israeli civilians over our key ally?”
Israel later demonstrated that the attack was the result of a stray rocket launched by Hamas, not an offensive action by the Israeli forces. The rocket mishap unfortunately resulted in significant damage to a hospital in Gaza.
Fetterman took to Twitter to express his discontent over the hastiness of the accusations, emphasizing the importance of factual assessment before drawing conclusions, especially in such sensitive international matters. He highlighted the jeopardy such rushed judgments could pose to the diplomatic relations between the United States and its key ally, Israel.
Tlaib continues to blame Israel for the bombing and has been spreading misinformation about the event, claiming the country bombed the hospital, killing an unknown amount of people.
When confronted with evidence by the Prime Minister of Israel, she replied, “Israeli PM Netanyahu has lied to the public before.”
