BOSTON, MA—The Boston Police Department’s Drug Control Unit (DCU) officers apprehended 31-year-old Andy Alcantara-Beltre from Dorchester on drug distribution charges yesterday evening. The arrest occurred around 5:50 PM in South Boston’s District C-6.

The DCU, responding to community complaints about drug activity, was conducting surveillance at 45 William T. Morrissey Boulevard. Officers noticed Alcantara-Beltre using his cell phone in a parked car, appearing to await someone. Shortly thereafter, an unidentified male entered Alcantara-Beltre’s vehicle, and both individuals appeared to engage in a secretive exchange.

After the unknown male exited the vehicle and headed towards a nearby grocery store, officers followed and detained him inside the store. They found him in possession of three plastic bags of fentanyl. Following this, DCU officers pursued and stopped Alcantara-Beltre’s vehicle using emergency signals, and upon confronting him, arrested him for drug distribution.

During the arrest, officers confiscated additional narcotics from Alcantara-Beltre, including two bags of fentanyl, ten bags of crack cocaine, eight bags of powder cocaine, and $800 in cash. The swift action of the DCU underscores their ongoing commitment to combating drug-related offenses within the community.
