POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. — A 19-year-old man has been arrested and charged as part of an ongoing investigation into narcotics trafficking along Main Street, the Dutchess County Drug Task Force announced on Tuesday.

The suspect, identified as Jahking Z. Murphy, was apprehended on November 25 following a search warrant executed at his residence at 455 Main Street. Authorities say undercover agents made fentanyl purchases from Murphy in the area prior to his arrest.

Murphy now faces two counts of criminal sale of a controlled substance in the third degree, a Class B felony under New York State law. He was arraigned in the City of Poughkeepsie Court and released on electronic monitoring, as required by state law.

The investigation is part of an ongoing effort by the Drug Task Force to combat fentanyl distribution along Main Street, particularly between North Clinton and North Hamilton streets. Officials called fentanyl “deadly” and vowed continued efforts to target those involved in its sale.

Authorities encourage anyone with information on narcotics sales in Dutchess County to contact the Drug Task Force’s confidential tip line at 845-463-6040 or via email at [email protected].
