Woman shot and killed, thrown out of moving vehicle in Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA, PA — A 32-year-old woman is dead after being shot in the chest and pushed out of a moving vehicle in West Philadelphia on Thursday night, police said.

Authorities responded to the 5000 block of Parkside Avenue around 9:16 p.m. where they found the woman lying on the road with a gunshot wound and injuries consistent with blunt force trauma. Witnesses at the scene reported seeing the woman pushed from a light-colored SUV.

“The victim had been ejected from a vehicle after sustaining a gunshot wound to the chest,” police said.

The SUV was seen fleeing eastbound on Parkside Avenue, but no further details about the vehicle or potential suspects were immediately released.

Medics transported the woman to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead shortly before 10 p.m., police confirmed.

As of Friday morning, the victim’s identity had not been released pending family notification.

Philadelphia Police Homicide Unit is investigating the case. No arrests have been made, and no motive has been confirmed.

Police are asking anyone with information or surveillance footage from the area at the time of the incident to come forward.
