Laurel woman wins 2K MONOPOLY second chance lottery prize after mistaking it for K

LAUREL, MD — Jocelyn Quinitchette of Laurel got a life-changing surprise after thinking she won $12,000 in the Maryland Lottery’s MONOPOLY™ Second-Chance Promotion — only to realize her prize was actually $112,853.

Quinitchette, a recent retiree from a non-profit organization, was selected from more than 14 million entries in the May 6 drawing to win the growing rolling cash jackpot. Initially, she misread the amount due to not wearing her glasses when checking the results online.

“I told my mom that I won $12,000. I was happy with $12,000. I didn’t realize it was over $112,000,” she said.

The Prince George’s County resident plans to use her six-figure win to purchase a new car. A regular participant in the My Lottery Rewards program, Quinitchette entered the promotion by submitting non-winning MONOPOLY scratch-off tickets.

The MONOPOLY-themed tickets launched on January 13 and range in price from $1 to $30. Each non-winning ticket entered into My Lottery Rewards gives players a chance to win either a rolling jackpot or a $5,000 prize.
