GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ – A 16-year-old male was arrested early Saturday morning after police say he attempted to break into a vehicle in the Sicklerville section of the township and then fled from responding officers.

Authorities said Gloucester Township police were called to Whitall Drive around 12:33 a.m. on February 14 after a resident reported an attempted vehicle burglary in progress. Before officers arrived, the suspect fled on foot.

A broadcast description of the suspect quickly went out to patrol units, and a passing driver flagged down an officer to report someone matching the description running into the nearby Terrestria development. Officers located the teen a short time later, but he ignored commands to stop and took off running.

After a brief chase, police apprehended the juvenile and found him carrying tools commonly used in burglaries. One officer suffered a minor injury during the pursuit.
