Teen arrested in brazen Montello Avenue gunpoint robbery

Washington, DC – A routine walk along a Northeast block turned tense when a group of suspects confronted a victim at gunpoint, a crime that investigators say has now led to the arrest of a teenage suspect weeks later.

The armed robbery occurred Wednesday at approximately 5:00 p.m. in the 1100 block of Montello Avenue, Northeast. Investigators say several suspects approached the victim on the street when one displayed a handgun and demanded money and personal property. The victim complied, and the suspects fled the scene.

Following a multiweek investigation, an arrest was made Friday. Acting under a DC Superior Court custody order, officers took a 15-year-old male from Northeast Washington into custody. The juvenile has been charged with armed robbery involving a firearm.

The investigation remains active as detectives continue working to determine whether additional individuals were involved in the incident.
