Trump supporters spoil No Kings protest at Ocean County Mall

TOMS RIVER, N.J. — A scheduled No Kings protest at the Ocean County Mall was overtaken Saturday by by counter-protesters carrying Trump signs and American flags, turning the event into a largely pro-Trump demonstration.

The original protest was organized by left-wing activists under the No Kings banner. However, Trump supporters arrived in large numbers, significantly outnumbering the group’s participants. Both sides remained peaceful as they gathered outside the shopping center.

Confusing the demographics at the event, several hundred leftist protesters waved American flags, diverting from the usual Palestinian and Mexican flags. There also did not appear to be any flag burnings, a common occurence during protests organized by the far left.

Ocean County, long known for its strong Republican base, delivered record-high support for former President Donald Trump in the 2024 election. The county is often cited as one of the most Republican-dominant areas in the Northeastern United States and Mid-Atlantic region, frequently described as one of New Jersey’s most staunchly pro-Trump counties.

Authorities maintained a visible presence throughout the demonstration, but no major incidents or arrests were reported.
