BRONX, N.Y. — A Bronx man has been indicted on charges of aggravated vehicular homicide and other offenses after allegedly driving drunk and crashing into another vehicle, killing a 27-year-old woman and severely injuring her boyfriend, an off-duty NYPD officer.
The defendant, Dimas Cuadrado, 43, was arraigned on December 16, 2024, in Bronx Supreme Court on a range of charges, including second-degree manslaughter, aggravated vehicular assault, reckless driving, and operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. Bail was set at $50,000 cash or $350,000 bond, and Cuadrado is due back in court on March 6, 2024.
According to the investigation, the incident occurred on November 16, 2024, at approximately 12:49 a.m. Cuadrado was allegedly speeding northbound in a 2011 Lincoln sedan on Castle Hill Avenue when he ran a red light and collided with a 2017 Infiniti sedan. The Infiniti was driven by 24-year-old Wilson Torres, an off-duty NYPD officer, with his girlfriend, Dorilys Ramos, in the passenger seat.
Ramos was transported to NYC Health + Hospitals Jacobi, where she was pronounced dead. Torres sustained serious injuries, including a broken arm, broken ribs, a collapsed lung, and required a breathing tube. Authorities allege that Cuadrado was intoxicated at the time of the crash, with a blood alcohol content of .128.
“This tragedy could have been avoided had the driver simply called a cab or used mass transit,” said Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark. “Now he has allegedly destroyed lives, including his own.”
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Michael Kilcommons of Trial Bureau 50 under the supervision of senior members of the Bronx District Attorney’s office.
