A confrontation in a fast-food drive-thru escalated into a criminal case Sunday afternoon after a woman allegedly tried to run over another driver who told her to be more careful. The incident unfolded at a Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers in Homestead and ended with an arrest miles away, according to police.
HOMESTEAD, FL – Amber Nicole Collier, 32, faces charges of aggravated battery and leaving the scene of an accident with property damage following the incident reported around 1:45 p.m. Sunday on NE 8th Street. Authorities say the encounter began when Collier was allegedly driving the wrong way through the restaurant’s drive-thru and nearly collided with another vehicle.
According to an arrest affidavit, the victim followed Collier to a stop sign and told her to “drive more carefully.” What followed, investigators say, quickly turned violent.
Drive-thru dispute turns into alleged assault
Collier allegedly made a U-turn and drove toward the victim while yelling, “you’re a rapist and a c—; I’m going to kill you.” Police said she missed the vehicle and struck a curb instead.
A passenger in the victim’s car then exited the vehicle, at which point Collier allegedly drove toward them again. Officers wrote that Collier struck the second victim in the arm as she passed. The injured woman suffered bruising but no additional injuries, according to police reports.
The first victim told officers she feared for her life during the encounter.
Crash and arrest miles from scene
As Collier left the parking lot, she allegedly struck a Dodge Ram truck that was exiting the restaurant. Police said she continued driving and did not stop after the crash.
Officers later located and stopped Collier roughly 10 miles away. She was taken into custody and transported to the Miami-Dade County Jail.
Jail records show Collier remained held on a $7,500 bond and is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.
