The New York City Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect wanted in connection with an assault on a 74-year-old man inside an apartment building in the Bronx.
According to the NYPD, the incident occurred at approximately 9 a.m. Tuesday at 1169 River Avenue in the confines of the 44th Precinct. Investigators said the victim was inside an elevator when he became involved in a verbal dispute with an unidentified individual.
Elderly victim reportedly attacked during dispute
Police said the dispute escalated when the suspect allegedly threw the 74-year-old man to the ground and punched him multiple times in the face and head before fleeing the building.
“During the dispute, the unidentified individual threw the victim to the ground and punched him multiple times in the face and head,” the NYPD said in its public alert.
Detectives ask anyone with information to come forward
The suspect has not been identified, and no arrest has been announced as the investigation continues.
