GROVE CITY, OH – What started as a routine grocery run turned into a life-changing moment for one Grove City woman, who snagged a $50,000 lottery prize after deciding to buy one last scratch-off ticket at the checkout counter.

The woman, whose name was not disclosed, had initially bought a few scratch-offs at Giant Eagle #6526 on Stringtown Road and came up empty. But her luck turned around when she gave it one more shot and purchased a Ultimate Jackpot $5,000,000! ticket — winning the game’s $50,000 prize.

A caregiver by profession, the winner shared that she had recently lost a beloved client and believed the unexpected win was a sign or blessing. She plans to invest her winnings into starting a balloon business in memory of her late mother.

After federal and state tax withholdings of 26.75%, she will take home $36,625.

The Ultimate Jackpot $5,000,000! game is one of Ohio’s top-tier instant win offerings, with six remaining top prizes of $200,000 a year for 25 years still unclaimed as of Tuesday.
