Police search for woman who stole wallet from 70-year-old shopper in Brooklyn

BROOKLYN, NY – Police are looking for a woman who allegedly pickpocketed a 70-year-old shopper inside a store on 8th Avenue late last month, making off with cash and credit cards before fleeing the scene.

Authorities said the incident occurred around 2:21 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 30, inside 5706 8th Avenue. The victim was shopping when an unidentified woman approached her from behind and removed her wallet from her purse. The wallet contained approximately $230 in cash along with several credit cards.

The suspect then ran from the store, heading southbound on 8th Avenue. No injuries were reported.

Police described the suspect as a woman with a light complexion, last seen wearing a black jacket, a red scarf, and a white hat.

Investigators are asking anyone with information to contact the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline.
