Pennsylvania man faces charges after abducting Louisiana teen in basement

Pittsburgh, PA – A 26-year-old man is charged with trafficking and sexual assault after allegedly abducting a 13-year-old girl who traveled from Louisiana to Pennsylvania. Ki-Shawn Crumity reportedly met the teen on Snapchat and convinced her to visit him under the pretense of helping her with adoption.

Crumity is among three suspects involved in the case. Law enforcement located the girl on October 30 at a home in the Brighton Heights neighborhood where she was found in a box in the basement.

The FBI executed a search warrant at the residence after receiving information from U.S. Marshals about the missing juvenile. The victim informed investigators that she had been given alcohol and marijuana edibles while being sexually assaulted multiple times a day.

It is alleged that she was initially transported from Louisiana to Georgia before arriving in Pittsburgh. Investigators later tracked her through her online activity.

This incident highlights the dangers of social media and human trafficking, according to Louisiana’s Attorney General Liz Murrill. Crumity is currently being held without bail in Allegheny County Jail.

Another suspect, 62-year-old Ronald Smith of New Orleans, was arrested in Georgia and is charged with kidnapping and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue to gather evidence in the case.
