Tanieka Ray charged with attempted murder after running over ex-boyfriend multiple times
Memphis, TN A woman has been charged with attempted first-degree murder after allegedly running over her ex-boyfriend multiple times with her SUV. The incident occurred on a residential street around 11:30 a.m. Saturday.
Tanieka Ray, 39, reportedly struck her ex-boyfriend, who then fell in a neighbor’s yard. As he attempted to escape, Ray allegedly continued to run him over three to four times.
The neighbor, who found the victim injured and propped against a fence, called police for assistance. Officers arrived and discovered the man in critical condition and rushed him to the hospital.
Witnesses stated they heard Ray yelling threats while making U-turns in her SUV. The victim later confirmed Ray hit him with the vehicle and pursued him as he tried to crawl away.
Following the incident, Ray allegedly crashed her vehicle into a utility pole a few houses away before fleeing on foot. She was located later by police in south Memphis, where a neighbor identified her in a lineup.
Tanieka Ray’s ex-boyfriend sustained multiple fractures and dislocated body parts, requiring surgery. She remains in custody on the attempted murder charge.
Great-grandmother charged with attempted murder after botched murder-suicide
Pierson, FL A great-grandmother has been arrested for attempting to kill her disabled great-granddaughter during an alleged murder-suicide incident. Deborah Collier, 69, faces one count of attempted murder in the first degree.
The events transpired on Monday afternoon in and around DeLand and Pierson, a region situated about 30 miles from Daytona Beach. A letter discovered at Collier’s residence raised alarm, leading law enforcement to consider her suicidal and search for her in a silver Chrysler Pacifica.
Upon locating the vehicle, deputies found Collier’s great-granddaughter, 13-year-old Sophia Abbott, asleep in the passenger seat. The deputy observed that Sophia was breathing normally and showing no immediate signs of distress.
Collier informed officers that Sophia, who is non-verbal, autistic, and incapable of independent movement, could potentially become aggressive if awakened. Backup was requested to ensure both Collier and Sophia received appropriate assistance.
As the situation unfolded, a second deputy arrived and discovered signs of distress surrounding Sophia, including white pill residue and signs of urination. Paramedics were called in to assist, and Sophia was taken to a local hospital for evaluation.
A search of the vehicle revealed prescription medications and a letter that expressed Collier’s despair related to her family situation. The letter contained a plea and described Collier’s desire for peace from the stress imposed by caregiving for Sophia.
During discussions with law enforcement, Collier explained the challenges of caring for Sophia, stating that both she and her husband had been the girl’s sole guardians. Collier outlined Sophia’s severe disabilities, which require constant care and have posed significant physical challenges for her and her spouse.
Collier mentioned that her husband was often critical of her and that tensions had escalated within the family due to caregiving issues. She expressed her concerns about Sophia’s future and her own inability to cope.
Law enforcement documented Collier’s comments, including her acknowledgment of the letters found in the vehicle. Collier indicated that the letters were part of her planning process, and she reflected on her intentions concerning Sophia.
Ultimately, Collier admitted to having thoughts of ending their lives. She expressed the belief that if she could not care for Sophia, she could not leave her behind.
Collier remains in custody at the Volusia County Jail with no bond. She is scheduled to face arraignment on January 22, 2026.

Husband sets wife on fire in attempted murder-suicide after divorce request
Ocala, FL A Florida man allegedly doused his wife in gasoline and ignited a fire at their home following her request for a divorce. Alfonza Green, 51, faces charges of attempted first-degree murder and arson.
Marion County sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene on November 30. Upon arrival, they discovered Green with burns and heard witnesses say he had set himself ablaze.
The victim reported that she was on her bed when Green emerged from the shower. She initially thought he was leaving until she felt something cold poured on her.
She confronted him, asking what he was doing. Green reportedly responded that if he died, they would both die together because they were married.
The victim attempted to flee and urged Green not to follow through with his threats. She realized he had poured gasoline on her just as he attempted to ignite a fire using a lighter.
In post-Miranda statements, Green claimed that he had poured gasoline on the bed due to feeling overwhelmed by life. He also alleged that the victim left the room before he ignited the flames.
There were six individuals inside the home, including the victim’s 11-year-old grandson. None of them sustained injuries.
Green was arrested on Tuesday and is currently held at Marion County Jail without bond.
Man charged in father’s brutal murder and attempted murder of mother
Indianapolis, IN An Indiana man has been arrested for allegedly murdering his father, wrapping the body in a rug, and attempting to harm his mother. Bryan Pedigo, 54, faces multiple charges, including murder and attempted murder.
The incidents took place earlier this month at a residence on South Catherwood Avenue. On December 11, a third party made a 911 call that led police to begin a death investigation based on a conversation allegedly initiated by Pedigo.
Officers initially found the residence locked and no one home, but later received another call from a witness who reported seeing a body through a window. The officers returned and confirmed the gruesome discovery of John Lloyd Pedigo, 81, with injuries consistent with trauma.
In the home, police also found Olanna Pedigo, 79, who appeared dazed and suffered visible injuries. She was taken to Eskenazi Hospital for treatment.
Initially, Olanna did not recall the events but later expressed doubt about her son’s innocence. A subsequent search revealed evidence of a struggle, including signs of blood and candle wax throughout the residence.
An autopsy determined that John Pedigo died from multiple blunt force traumas. Following the investigation, police discovered that the deceased man’s truck was missing and tracked it down 90 miles southwest of Indianapolis, where Bryan Pedigo was arrested.
During questioning, the defendant provided conflicting accounts about the circumstances surrounding the violence. He initially claimed his mother’s permission to use his father’s vehicle and downplayed knowledge of the assault.
Later statements included references to “something demonic” affecting their home and a history of violence within the family. Eventually, Pedigo admitted to his father’s death but declined to give specifics.
The original 911 caller, a friend of Bryan Pedigo, revealed that he expressed remorse for the incident and confessed to beating his father to death. The man also indicated disturbing intentions regarding handling his father’s body.
Bryan Pedigo is currently held in the Marion County Jail without bond. His pretrial hearing is scheduled for March 4, 2026, with a jury trial set to begin on March 9, 2026.

81-year-old man charged with attempted murder after shooting at Subway restaurant
Lake City, MN An 81-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder after shooting the owner of a Subway restaurant with whom he had an ongoing feud. William Piar faces multiple charges, including attempted first-degree murder and multiple counts of assault.
The shooting occurred Wednesday afternoon near the 1300 block of North Lakeshore Drive. Eyewitnesses indicated that Piar began firing a gun at the Subway building around 1:30 p.m.
A man, identified only as the restaurant owner, was shot in the abdomen during the incident. Reports suggest that Piar and the victim had been engaged in property disputes for years.
Lake City police arrived to find Piar in his backyard wearing dark clothing. Officers instructed him to show his hands, but he refused to comply and kept one hand in his coat pocket.
An officer deployed a less-than-lethal shotgun loaded with bean bag rounds, hitting Piar and prompting him to reveal a firearm. Officers then commanded him to drop the weapon, but he did not comply, leading them to fire additional bean bag rounds.
At one point, Piar reportedly asked officers to shoot him. After further attempts to subdue him with bean bag rounds, he fell to the ground and dropped his weapon, with one hand bleeding heavily.
Police handcuffed Piar and attended to his injury. Meanwhile, the victim was found inside the restaurant, bleeding and in significant pain, attended to by family and Subway employees.
Once the situation was secure, the shooting victim was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. Piar appeared in court on Friday and was assigned a bail of $2 million. He is scheduled to return to court next month.
The restaurant was reportedly open, and customers were present during the shooting.

Orange Park, FL
Serpil Nebiye Adams, 62, faces charges for allegedly attacking her estranged adult daughter with a knife. The incident occurred Monday afternoon at the victim’s home on Reese Avenue in Orange Park.
A 911 call was made at approximately 3:15 p.m. by the victim, who could be heard yelling for her mother to leave. Upon arrival, deputies found blood on the sidewalk near the residence.

Oklahoma woman charged with attempted murder of husband over oxygen supply
Claremore, OK
Naomi Austin, 73, faces charges of attempted murder and abuse by a caretaker. She was arrested late Saturday for allegedly unplugging her husband’s oxygen supply while telling him to “just die.”
Her 77-year-old husband contacted emergency services claiming Austin had disconnected his oxygen and refused to reconnect it.
This incident was not the first of its kind. On October 11, firefighters responded to a similar call regarding his oxygen supply being tampered with.
Investigators uncovered text messages in which Austin expressed animosity toward her husband. In one message, she reportedly stated, “I hate [victim],” and in another, “He needs to die soon.”
An affiliate reported that during a conversation with a family realtor, she sought assistance in facilitating her husband’s death.
Sheriff Scott Walton commented on Austin’s arrest, emphasizing the necessity of the action taken despite her age.
Jail records reveal that Austin is being held without bond and has a court date scheduled for November 12.

School therapist arrested for attempted murder after alleged poisoning plot
CHARLOTTE, NC — A North Carolina school therapist has been arrested and charged with attempted murder and stalking after allegedly trying to poison her ex-husband. Cheryl Gates, 43, was taken into custody on Friday by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
According to an arrest warrant, Gates is accused of contaminating food and drink to incapacitate her estranged partner. The specific chemical used in the alleged poisoning has not been disclosed. Local media reports indicate that she and her husband are separated.
The warrant outlines details leading to the stalking charge. It claims Gates placed a tracking device on her husband’s vehicle, demonstrating a repeated course of conduct that could cause reasonable fear for his safety.
Police identified Gates as an employee of Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (CMS), where she works as a pediatric therapist. Officials indicated that the incident occurred off school property and did not involve any students or CMS personnel.
On Friday, detectives from CMPD’s Domestic Violence Unit arrested Gates. In total, she faces four charges: attempted murder, contaminating food and drink, stalking, and property damage. The property damage charge relates to her allegedly breaking a window that is regarded as her ex-husband’s property.
Gates was initially detained on stalking and property damage charges last Tuesday before her arrest on charges of attempted murder on Friday. As of Sunday, she remained in custody while investigations continue.
It’s unclear if Gates continues to work at CMS following these events.
A shocking case involving a school therapist accused of planning to poison her ex-husband has left the community reeling.
