ATLANTIC CITY-Hirsh Singh, the Republican candidate challenging U.S. Senator Cory Booker said this week that the death of accused celebrity pedophile Jerry Epstein highlights the failure of trust in government in the United States.
Epstein, a high profile prisoner was found dead of suspected suicide in his jail cell while the government continued to comb through troves of documents and files that could link his lavish “Pedophile Island” to wealthy American elites, politicians and celebrities.
He was awaiting trial on charges of sex trafficking.
“When truth is elusive it’s always better to wait before making a statement. So I waited, but the Epstein situation stinks,” Singh said. “Anyone who professes any policy that requires trust in government has been so thoroughly rebuked by Epstein’s death. This was a failure of the prison system, a failure of trust in government.”
Yesterday, the New York Times reported that Epstein was left unsupervised before his death.
The Wall Street Journal reported “Unusual irregularities” in the handling of Epstein in the Manhattan correctional facility.
Singh did not touch on conspiracy theories swirling around in the media and on social media regarding Epstein’s untimely demise, but his opponent Cory Booker lashed out at President Donald J. Trump over remarks made about Epstein’s suicide.
“Died of SUICIDE on 24/7 SUICIDE WATCH? Yeah right! How does that happen #JefferyEpstein had information on Bill Clinton & now he’s dead,” a message re-Tweeted by Trump read.
Booker Invokes Russian Conspiracy
“What he’s doing is dangerous, he’s giving light to conspiracy theorists and whipping people up to anger against different people in this country,” Booker said in a CNN interview “He is using the same tactics as the Russians to attack our democracy.”
