Pittsburgh, PA – A man from Warren, PA, faces charges following the discovery of a firearm in his backpack at Pittsburgh International Airport’s main security checkpoint. The incident occurred at approximately 3:25 PM on February 20, 2024.
Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officers detected a 9mm handgun in the passenger’s backpack during routine security screening and immediately notified Allegheny County Police. The passenger, identified as 36-year-old Jeremy Snell, was found to be carrying the firearm without a valid concealed carry permit, resulting in a felony charge for carrying a firearm without a license.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has been informed of the incident. TSA warns passengers that bringing firearms to airport security checkpoints can result in federal civil fines up to $10,000, with fines for repeat offenders reaching up to $13,910.
