CHESTERFIELD, Va. — A Chesterfield woman couldn’t stop screaming after an online Virginia Lottery game delivered a jackpot worth $1,732,009, sending her husband rushing into the room to find out what happened.
The woman, who claimed her prize anonymously as permitted under Virginia law, said she decided to play the Virginia Lottery’s Banker’s Bonus Boost online instant game one evening when the life-changing jackpot appeared on her screen.
“I started screaming!” she told Virginia Lottery officials.
Hearing the commotion, her husband ran into the room and immediately looked at the computer screen.
“Breathe!” he told her after realizing she had just won the progressive jackpot.
Earlier that day, the Chesterfield woman had won $100 on Virginia Lottery tickets she purchased at a nearby Sheetz. She said the online jackpot came as a complete surprise.
