Rideshare driver robbed at gunpoint on NYC’s Upper East Side

MANHATTAN, NY – A 37-year-old rideshare driver was robbed early Sunday morning by two passengers who pretended to have a gun during a hold-up on East 93rd Street.

The incident occurred around 4 a.m. when the suspects demanded the driver’s property while inside his vehicle near 419 East 93rd Street.

They stole the victim’s cell phone and wallet before fleeing southbound on the FDR Drive in a black sedan.

Suspects described by police
The first suspect is described as a male with a dark complexion, last seen wearing a mask, hooded sweatshirt, and bubble coat. The second suspect, also described as a male with a dark complexion, was wearing a dark hat, surgical mask, and sweatshirt.

Investigation underway
Detectives are reviewing surveillance cameras in the area and working to trace the suspects’ vehicle. No injuries were reported, and the investigation remains ongoing.

Authorities are reminding rideshare drivers to remain alert during late-night hours and report any suspicious behavior immediately to police.
