Barnegat Police welcome Patrolman Jerry Mecca to department

BARNEGAT, NJ – The Barnegat Police Department has officially welcomed Patrolman Jerry Mecca as its newest officer, joining the force following the retirement of Detective Stephen Russoniello.

Police Chief Jason Carroll introduced Mecca during a swearing-in ceremony officiated by Mayor Pat Pipi, with Township Committeeman Joe Marte also in attendance. Family members, friends, and fellow officers gathered to celebrate the occasion.

Patrolman Mecca joins the department after serving with distinction at the Hightstown Police Department, where he earned recognition for his training and performance. Chief Carroll commended Mecca’s experience and dedication, noting that his addition strengthens the department’s commitment to community service.

Township Administrator Marty Lisella and the Township Committee were recognized for their ongoing support of the department’s mission to recruit and retain highly qualified officers.
