Decades-long Maryland Lottery player hits biggest win with scratch-off ticket
BALTIMORE, Md. – A 91-year-old Baltimore woman who has spent decades playing Maryland Lottery scratch-offs is celebrating her largest win yet after claiming a $50,000 prize and outlining plans to give back to her community.
The longtime player claimed her winnings Monday after purchasing a $5 Money Maker scratch-off ticket at a Shell station on Liberty Road, according to Maryland Lottery officials.
She said the win came as a surprise during a routine outing with her niece, when she picked up several tickets to play over the course of the week.
“This is definitely my biggest win,” the woman said.
Surprise win confirmed at home
After returning home, the woman scratched the ticket and was initially unsure of what she was seeing.
Lottery officials said she was “stunned” upon revealing the $50,000 prize and asked her niece to double-check the ticket to confirm the result.
