80-year-old woman killed in Lacey crash

LACEY TOWNSHIP, NJ – the Lacey Township Police Department and other law enforcement agencies are continuing to investigate a fatal crash that took place on Monday at around 10:55 p.m. on Route 9.

Lacey Township police chief Michael DiBella said in a statement today that an 80-year-old woman from Barnegat was driving her Hyundai Sonata northbound on Route 9 in the area of Beach Boulevard in Forked River when her vehicle crossed the center line into the southbound lane of oncoming traffic.

She collided with a truck driven by Colin Jamison, a 20-year-old resident from upper Freehold Township.

The woman, whose name was not released, was rushed to Community Medical Center in Toms River, where she was later pronounced dead. During the investigation, Route 9 in Forked River was closed for several hours.

The incident remains under investigation.
