President Biden's account fact-checked by Twitter after posting intentional misinformation

President Joe Biden’s Twitter account has been flagged for posting misinformation regarding the Republican Party’s plan to abolish the IRS and end federal income taxes.

According to Joe Biden, “House Republicans have proposed a new 23% national sales tax on American families, increasing the prices of everything from groceries and gas to food and medicine.”

While the statement is factually accurate, Biden intentionally declined to add proper context to his post that the 23% sales and consumption tax would replace the existing IRS tax code and federal income taxes.

Twitter added a “Context” disclaimer to better inform Americans about the facts disregarded in the President’s post.

American families need more breathing room. Not less.

“While the bill does institute a 23% national sales tax, it also eliminates the income tax, payroll tax, and estate tax. It also includes a number of refunds and credits in chapter 2, and further refunds and rebates for families in chapter 3,” Twitter noted after the President’s post meant to mislead the American public intentionally.

Many Americans responded, including supporters of the President and even detractors of the bill to note that the President’s post was disingenuous and misleading.
