New York, NY – A 25-year-old male, identified as Leron Jones of 3073 Park Avenue, Bronx, NY, died in police custody on Friday morning. The incident occurred at approximately 6:00 AM at 100 Centre Street, within the jurisdiction of the 5th Precinct.
Jones was found having a seizure while detained and subsequently went into cardiac arrest. Despite immediate CPR efforts by officers as they awaited Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Jones was pronounced dead upon arrival at New York-Presbyterian Lower Manhattan Hospital.
The New York Police Department’s Force Investigation Division is actively conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Jones’s death. The family of the deceased has been notified. Further details will be released as the investigation progresses.
