Asbury Park Man Extradited to New Jersey on Murder Charge

Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer has confirmed the extradition of Eric Manzanares, 24, from Asbury Park, from Prince William County, Virginia, back to Ocean County, New Jersey. The extradition is in connection with the murder of 25-year-old Nymere Tinsley from Brick Township, which occurred in Toms River on August 27, 2022. Manzanares is currently held at the Ocean County Jail, awaiting a detention hearing.

The incident in question took place on August 27, 2022, around 1:20 a.m. at the Top Tier Hookah Lounge on Hooper Avenue in Toms River. Toms River Township Police Department officers responded to reports of gunfire at the location. Upon arrival, they found three individuals with gunshot wounds. Tinsley, who suffered a gunshot wound to the lower abdomen, was declared deceased at the scene. The other two victims, Anthony Miller, 30, from Neptune Township, and Jamal Bland, 26, from Asbury Park, received gunshot wounds to the stomach and elbow, respectively. Both were treated at Jersey Shore University Medical Center and subsequently released.

The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit, Toms River Township Police Department Detective Bureau, and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit conducted a comprehensive investigation. Their efforts led to the conclusion that Manzanares was the shooter responsible for all three victims. Consequently, on August 27, 2022, Manzanares faced multiple charges, including Murder, Attempted Murder, Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon. Following these charges, a warrant for his arrest was issued, and his details were entered into the National Crime Information Center database.

Manzanares was apprehended by law enforcement in Prince William County, Virginia, on April 7, 2023. He was initially held at the Prince William-Manassas Regional Adult Detention Center in Manassas, Virginia, before being extradited to Ocean County on January 24, 2024. This development marks a significant progression in the legal proceedings related to the August 2022 shooting incident.
