Students at Berkeley Township Elementary School this week completed their D.A.R.E (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) program graduation.
Mayor Carmen Amato thanked Berkeley Township’s DARE Officer Scott Selby for another great year of the program which has been educating students in the township for 15 years.
Joining Mayor Amato at the event were Council members John Bacchione, Judith Noonan and Sophia Attanasio Papa Gingrich, as well as Police Chief Karin DiMichele, Freeholder Joe Vicari, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Bilhimer and School Board members.
“I wish to congratulate the 5th grade students on their achievement,” Amato said. “In my remarks, I let the students know that the lessons they learned are important to keep themselves and our community safe and healthy.”
“That sometimes there are obstacles that you need to overcome, but I am confident you have the power to make the right choices,” he told the students, “Don’t let people influence you in a negative way.”
