NEW YORK, NY – A Bronx man has been arrested in connection with a Midtown shooting last month that left a 29-year-old man hospitalized with a gunshot wound to the abdomen.
Frederick Green, 20, of Union Avenue, was taken into custody late Monday night by officers from the Midtown South Precinct.
He is charged with attempted murder, assault, and criminal possession of a weapon.
Police said the charges stem from a November 16 shooting that occurred around 2:06 a.m. outside 156 West 38th Street, where an unidentified gunman fired a round that struck the victim in the abdomen.
Emergency medical personnel rushed the man to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue, where he was listed in critical but stable condition.
Suspect fled scene after shooting
According to investigators, the shooter fled the scene eastbound on West 38th Street on foot, disappearing into the surrounding area. Surveillance footage from nearby businesses helped detectives identify a suspect during the ongoing investigation.
Police later released an image of the individual sought in the case, asking for the public’s assistance before Green’s eventual arrest on December 8.
Charges follow weeks-long investigation
Authorities have not released a motive for the shooting but said the arrest resulted from a detailed review of evidence and witness accounts gathered over several weeks.
Green was taken into custody without incident and is expected to be arraigned in Manhattan Criminal Court.
