Brooklyn, NY – Deandre Lee, a 29-year-old resident of East New York, Brooklyn, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for attempting to sex traffic a 15-year-old girl, according to an announcement made by Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez on Monday, December 18, 2024.
Lee was convicted after pleading guilty to charges of attempted sex trafficking of a child on October 31, 2024. His sentencing was carried out by Brooklyn Supreme Court Justice Danny Chun, who also mandated 10 years of post-release supervision and registration as a sex offender upon Lee’s release.
The incident that led to Lee’s conviction occurred on April 28, 2024, when the minor victim encountered Lee while walking on Mother Gaston Boulevard. Lee offered to let her charge her phone in his car, which led to him driving her to Chipotle for a meal. After eating, Lee drove the victim to a secluded spot by a highway in Brooklyn, where he provided her with marijuana and subsequently had sex with her.
According to the investigation detailed by the DA’s office, Lee then suggested to the victim that she could earn money through prostitution or stripping. When they communicated the following day via text, he again pressed her about engaging in such activities. The victim subsequently reported the assault to the police.
District Attorney Gonzalez condemned Lee’s actions, describing them as “predatory and reprehensible,” and praised the bravery of the young survivor and the efforts of law enforcement in bringing Lee to justice. He emphasized his office’s commitment to protecting vulnerable individuals from exploitation.
The case was supported by the work of Paralegal Aurora Martinez from the Human Trafficking Unit of the Brooklyn DA’s office.
