DC police arrest suspect in V Street shooting investigation

Police say a 23-year-old man has been charged after two suspects allegedly exchanged gunfire, leaving damaged vehicles but no reported shooting victims.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — A 23-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a shooting in Northwest DC where investigators say two suspects exchanged gunfire before fleeing the scene.

The shooting occurred at about 12:22 a.m. on April 19 in the 200 block of V Street, Northwest.

According to the Metropolitan Police Department, the investigation determined that two suspects fired at one another before leaving the area.

Responding officers found two vehicles damaged by gunfire along with evidence of the shooting. Police said no victims were located.

Following an investigation, detectives obtained a DC Superior Court arrest warrant for 23-year-old Dakarai Walker, of Northwest DC.

Walker was arrested on June 24 and charged with assault with a dangerous weapon (gun) and two counts of misdemeanor destruction of property.

The investigation remains ongoing.
