NOT EXACTLY NEWS – On January 6th, 2021, some attendees from a nearby Trump rally stormed the U.S. Capitol building and clashed with police. During that event, U.S. Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez claimed U.S. Senator Ted Cruz tried have her killed.

U.S. Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez claimed U.S. Senator Ted Cruz tried to have her killed. In an exchange on Twitter where both elected officials agreed that an investigation needs to be conducted with the Robinhood/Gamestop Stock Market scandal the two communicated directly with each other.
“We now need to know more about @RobinhoodApp’s decision to block retail investors from purchasing stock while hedge funds are freely able to trade the stock as they see fit,” AOC said.
“Fully agree,” Cruz replied
“I am happy to work with Republicans on this issue where there’s common ground, but you almost had me murdered 3 weeks ago so you can sit this one out. Happy to work w/ almost any other GOP that aren’t trying to get me killed. In the meantime if you want to help, you can resign,” AOC alleged.

Is it fake news?
There is no doubt that Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez believes she is the victim of an attempted assassination and that Ted Cruz planned her assassination on January 6th. AOC said she felt like her life was going to end that day and even thought U.S. Capitol police who were evacuating Cannon building, some two blocks away where she was during the event were also trying to harm her and possibly kill her. AOC has made repeated claims that even other members of Congress may be seeking to kill her and she no longer feels safe in the company of some Republican on Capitol Hill.
She has also been distraught by the fact that so many people in America are discrediting her account of what happened on January 6th. In February, Congresswoman Nancy Mace told America that AOC was not in the Capitol building at the time of the riot, but inside the Cannon building.
On January 2nd, AOC took to Instagram to tell her story and raised several other conspiracy theories. The video started off with a smile from the congresswoman said she drove into the Capitol Complex and went to her office at 9:30. In that nearly hour and a half long video, she spoke about her COVID-19 vaccine, ordering lunch and her personal tale of what happened on that day. No mention of Ted Cruz planning her assassination was mentioned.

There has been no evidence that U.S. Senator Ted Cruz plotted the assassination of Congresswoman Ocasio Cortez. At this time, AOC has not filed any criminal charges against Cruz and the Justice Department has not announced any investigations into Cruz’s alledged assassination attempt against the Congresswoman. The January 28th Twitter exchange between Cruz and AOC further highlights that her claim against Cruz is a political claim and not an actual criminal complaint against the U.S. Senator. Typically, when a crime of such a high degree occurs, victims are not recommended to face their would-be assassins on Twitter.
AOC may believe in her mind that Ted Cruz plotted her assassination, but just because a person believes in a conspiracy theory, does not make it true, no matter how many times it is repeated on Twitter.
