Egg Harbor Township, NJ – The spirit of giving was on full display as Egg Harbor Township Police officers joined fellow first responders and military personnel for the 15th Annual “Shop with a Hero” event hosted by the Egg Harbor Township and Atlantic County Police Athletic League.
Held on December 6, the holiday tradition pairs children from across the region with police, firefighters, dispatchers, and service members for a day of festive fun and holiday shopping.
A day to remember for local kids
The event began with breakfast and meet-and-greet activities, giving children a chance to interact with emergency personnel before boarding buses escorted by flashing lights and sirens to the Hamilton Township Walmart. There, each child met their “hero” shopping partner and picked out toys and gifts, all made possible through donations from community sponsors.

In a statement, the Egg Harbor Township Police Department thanked the many sponsors and volunteers who made the event possible. “We’re grateful for everyone who helped put smiles on these kids’ faces,” the department said. “It’s an honor to be part of an event that brings joy to so many families.”
The department said it looks forward to continuing its participation in future years as part of its commitment to community outreach and youth engagement.
