LOS ANGELES — The last of four detainees who escaped from a New Jersey immigration detention facility last month was arrested in Los Angeles following a traffic stop, federal authorities announced Thursday.

Andres Felipe Pineda Mogollon, 25, a Colombian national, had been on the run since June 12, when he escaped from Delaney Hall Detention Facility in Newark along with three other individuals, according to the FBI.

The FBI’s Los Angeles office confirmed Mogollon was taken into custody in the city’s Silver Lake neighborhood. No further details about the arrest were released.

Mogollon is now charged with escape from the custody of an institution or officer, the Department of Justice said.

According to the Department of Homeland Security, he entered the U.S. legally but remained in the country after overstaying a tourist visa. He had been previously arrested in April by the New York City Police Department for petit larceny, and again in May by New Jersey authorities on charges of residential burglary, conspiracy to commit burglary, and possession of burglary tools.

His recapture brings the high-profile case to a close, more than a month after the group’s escape drew national attention.
