Two masked suspects fled on foot after stealing merchandise from store service area, police say
BETHLEHEM TOWNSHIP, PA — A gunman and an accomplice entered a Best Buy just before closing Wednesday night, threatened an employee with a handgun and fled with merchandise after forcing their way behind the store’s service counter, according to the Bethlehem Township Police Department.
Officers responded at approximately 9 p.m. on Wednesday, July 22, to the Best Buy at Southmont Plaza Shopping Center, 4413 Birkland Place, for a reported armed robbery.
Investigators said two male suspects entered the store shortly before closing and approached the service counter. One suspect displayed a handgun to a female employee before the pair entered the restricted service area and began taking multiple merchandise items being held there.
The suspects fled the store on foot in an unknown direction before officers arrived.
No employees or customers were injured during the robbery.
Police described both suspects as Black males in their teens or early 20s, approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall with thin builds. Both were wearing black hooded sweatshirts with the hoods pulled up, black pants and blue medical masks covering the lower portions of their faces.
The robbery remains under investigation, and additional information may be released as it becomes available.
