Lanham, MD – Lots of Marylanders have more money in their pockets today than they did last week, thanks to winning lottery tickets.
A Maryland Lottery player in Lanham struck gold over the weekend, winning $100,000 on a WILLY WONKA AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY™ FAST PLAY ticket.
Just days earlier, another lucky player in Temple Hills claimed a $100,000 prize on a crossword scratch-off.
The two six-figure wins topped a busy week for the Lottery, which handed out nearly $29.3 million in prizes statewide from Sept. 22-28. In that stretch, 21 tickets worth $10,000 or more were sold or redeemed.

Where the big wins hit
The Temple Hills win came from a $100,000 Crossword 9th Edition ticket purchased at Modern Liquors on Iverson Street. Other $10,000 winners included tickets sold in Pikesville, Fruitland, Hagerstown, Mount Rainier, and Ellicott City.
Players are reminded to sign the backs of their tickets and keep them safe. Winning draw game and FAST PLAY tickets expire 182 days after the date of play.
Claiming Lottery prizes
Big winners must claim prizes according to prize amount:
- More than $25,000: Redeemed at the Lottery’s Customer Resource Center in Baltimore, by appointment only.
- Up to $25,000: Redeemed at cashier windows in Maryland’s six casinos.
- Up to $5,000: Redeemed at more than 400 Expanded Cashing Authority Program (XCAP) locations.
- Up to $600: Redeemed at any Maryland Lottery retailer.
