HOWARD COUNTY, MD — A man was shot in the leg during an altercation at a Laurel residence Thursday morning, while two vehicles were reported stolen overnight elsewhere in Howard County, according to the Howard County Police Department’s Sept. 3 daily crime bulletin.

Police were called to the 9200 block of Livery Lane in Laurel at approximately 10:15 a.m. for a report of a shooting. Investigators said a known suspect allegedly shot an adult male victim in the leg following an altercation. Responding officers took the suspect into custody without incident.

The victim was transported to Shock Trauma with injuries police described as non-life-threatening. Authorities did not identify the victim or suspect in the bulletin, and police said charges were pending.

In Columbia, police are investigating an overnight commercial burglary at Marshall Goldman in the 8900 block of McGaw Court. Police said an unknown suspect or suspects forced their way into the building sometime between Sept. 2 and Sept. 3 and stole construction materials. No additional description of the stolen property or suspects was released.

Howard County police also reported three overnight vehicle-related crimes. Tires were stolen from a vehicle in the 4900 block of Dorsey Hall Drive in Ellicott City. In Laurel, a white 2024 Honda Civic with Maryland license plate 4GK2382 was reported stolen from the 9100 block of Blues Alley. In Columbia, a gray 2024 Acura Integra with Maryland plate 4FL1611 was reported stolen from the 9500 block of Oakhurst Drive. All three incidents were reported as occurring overnight between Sept. 2 and Sept. 3.
