Fishkill, NY – A routine traffic stop on State Route 9 turned into a major drug and weapons bust Tuesday night.
Troopers say they pulled over a vehicle driven by 53-year-old Elizabeth H. Williams-Green of Poughkeepsie just after 8 p.m.
Her passenger, identified as 59-year-old Luvin Gory of Pleasant Valley, was seated in the front seat when State Police narcotics K9 Wild detected the presence of narcotics from outside the car.
A search of the vehicle uncovered a digital scale with cocaine residue, several crack pipes, a small amount of heroin and crack cocaine, and a loaded .380 caliber semi-automatic handgun.
Both Williams-Green and Gory were immediately taken into custody.
Multiple felony and misdemeanor charges filed
Investigators charged both suspects with criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, criminal possession of a firearm, three counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, and criminal use of drug paraphernalia in the second degree.
Authorities say the handgun was loaded and illegally possessed. The narcotics were packaged in a manner consistent with personal use, according to police reports.
Court proceedings and bail decisions
Following their arraignment in the Town of Stanford Court, Williams-Green was sent to the Dutchess County Justice and Transition Center on $25,000 cash bail, $50,000 bond, or a $100,000 partially secured bond.
Gory was ordered held without bail and also remanded to the county facility.
Both are scheduled to appear in the Town of Fishkill Court on October 22 at 4 p.m. as the case continues.
The night ended with handcuffs instead of headlights on Route 9.
