Motorcyclist killed after high speed crash on Suitland Parkway in DC

WASHINGTON, D.C. — A motorcyclist was killed after losing control at a high rate of speed and crashing on Suitland Parkway in Southeast D.C.

The crash happened around 3:15 p.m. on March 22 on Suitland Parkway near Stanton Road, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.

Investigators said the rider of a 2006 Suzuki GSX-R750 was traveling inbound when he attempted to negotiate a turn, lost control and struck a guardrail before being ejected from the motorcycle.

The rider was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities identified the victim as Tyreik Shaw, 25, of Waldorf, Maryland.

Detectives with the Major Crash Investigations Unit are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
