Man slashed in the face during early morning attack on Steinway Street

Queens, NY – A 22-year-old man was hospitalized early Sunday morning after being slashed across the face during an unprovoked attack in Astoria, police said.

The incident occurred around 3:50 a.m. near 30-04 Steinway Street, where the victim was sitting outside when an unidentified individual approached him. According to investigators, the assailant pulled out a sharp object and slashed the man on the left side of his face before fleeing the scene on foot toward an unknown location.

Emergency responders transported the victim to NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst, where he was listed in stable condition.

Police from the 114th Precinct are investigating the assault and have not made any arrests. The suspect remains at large.
