Massachusetts Mayor Bit Husband, Slashed Him With Gasket Scraper

TAUNTON, MA — Mayor Shaunna O’Connell of Taunton is facing charges after allegedly biting her husband during a domestic dispute over the weekend. O’Connell, who has been vocal about reducing crime, is now charged with one count of assault and battery on a family member and one count of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

The incident, which occurred on Friday night, escalated from a verbal altercation regarding a marital issue to a physical confrontation. According to the Taunton Police Department, the situation intensified when O’Connell allegedly bit her husband on the forearm and struck him with a gasket scraper, initially reported as a crowbar.

Police responding to a 911 call from Ted O’Connell observed injuries consistent with his account, including an open wound on his forearm and multiple wounds on his knuckles. The mayor has yet to respond publicly to the charges.
