Stafford, VA – Over the recent holiday weekend, Stafford County deputies made several arrests related to driving under the influence (DUI) and related offenses.
West Ridge Court, July 3, 10:05 p.m. – Deputy N.J. Amato stopped a vehicle on Layhill Road after observing it fail to maintain its lane. The driver, who showed signs of intoxication, did not have a valid driver’s license or inspection sticker and had three prior DUI convictions. He was charged with fourth offense DUI within 10 years, driving without a license, and no inspection sticker. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
2700 block of Richmond Highway, July 4, 2:26 p.m. – Deputy J.L. Jones stopped a vehicle traveling 60 MPH in a 35 MPH zone. The driver, who exhibited signs of intoxication and had an open bottle of beer in the vehicle, claimed to have had “one beer” at a nearby park. He was charged with DUI, drinking while driving, and reckless driving. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail until sober.
Princess Anne Street, July 4, 5:50 p.m. – Deputy S.C. Martin stopped a vehicle driving recklessly. The driver, who admitted to consuming “a few” beers, was detained for DUI. He obstructed deputies certified as phlebotomists from conducting a blood draw. He was charged with DUI and obstruction of justice, and held on a $5,000 secured bond.
Leeland Road, July 6, 6:45 p.m. – Deputy A.E. Epps stopped a swerving vehicle. The driver, who admitted to drinking two beers at Falmouth Beach, was charged with DUI with a blood alcohol content between .15 and .2. He was held on a $1,000 secured bond.
Intersection of Warrenton Road and Banks Ford Parkway, July 6, 11:53 p.m. – Deputy D.A. Robertson stopped a vehicle for running a red light. The driver, who admitted to drinking three beers at a party, showed signs of intoxication. He was charged with DUI and held until sober.
Falmouth Beach, 401 River Road, July 6, 7:45 p.m. – Sergeant E.E. West and Deputy M.A. Holub observed a woman drinking a margarita who intended to drive. She was charged with public intoxication and held until sober.
